Happy Summer, Folks!

We are waist deep into the season and man oh man has it been a hot one so far!  Some of these too hot to handle days had me indoors taking it easy and thinking a bit.  I know the every day monotony can certainly wear us down.  Believe me, I get it.   The laundry, dish washing and especially scrubbing toilets can totally take the fun out of enjoying your home.  That’s why I’m a firm believer in having little things around the house that put a smile on your face whenever you see them.

Honestly, I’m one of those crazy people who actually, truly and sincerely loves the little things.  Take these for instance.  I was in Home Goods about a month and a half ago and found these cute little decorative cocktail napkins.  What I love about these is that they incorporate all my favorite colors!  The key is to use them daily (not just when you’re trying to impress company).  Fashionistas, think of them as a little amazing accessory to your glass or mug ; )  I say, treat yourself to your own set.  It’s the least you can do to spice up your time in the kitchen.  I think these were $1.99 and worth every penny.

I adore these glasses!  I got these at Pier1 on clearance sometime earlier this year.  Absolutely love love love the color.  They’re super fun with a gypsy feel.  I use them everyday.  My friends’ 4-year old daughter said “Ooh I like these” as I took one out of her hand lol.  Hey, I love the children (especially my little namesake) but these were the last 4!  Coincidently, they’re a hit with 4-year olds as well.

What’s the first thing you see when you walk in the door at home?  Be honest.  Is it a pile of everyone and their brothers’ (literally) shoes stacked up against the wall?  Or maybe an empty wall?   What do you want to welcome you home?  Think about it.  It can totally set the mood for how you feel when you walk in the door.  This is the first thing I see.  My beloved, “Sinclair”, from ART by Raynée (shameless plug =) But no, seriously, enjoy your home and remember to make it your own.  Incorporate all of your favorite things.  I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again.  Your home is your haven.  Enjoy it and your summer!
